Baby Monitor – ‘Maid’ For Your Baby

Last week, my partner and I were around at the house of a couple who are very dear friends of ours.  We usually play bridge with them every week but they had a baby recently and, consequently, had had no time to spare for some social fun.  It had been four months since we last caught up and all adults were looking forward to some relaxation and fun.  The mum was happily participating and, might I add, winning, after putting her child to rest a little while before.  All of a sudden a loud and upset wail filled the room.  I was completely taken aback.  That noise came quite clearly far away, in another part of the house, from where I watched the mother race to in order to check on the baby.  Having seen my consternation and confusion, her partner, after he stopped laughing, outlined the features of a new machine called a baby monitor that helped them to know what was going on with the child.
